SUMMARY:Surviving the Storm of a Lifetime was Just the Beginning
DESCRIPTION:Program Content \nOn May 22, 2011, Joplin, Missouri experienced the deadliest single tornado in US history. Joplin lost 158 residents to the devastation, 8,000 homes were damaged and 400 businesses were lost. Mercy Joplin took a direct hit from the F-5 tornado and the \nfacility was left unfit to care for patients. What happened next for Mercy Joplin is an inspiring story of picking up the pieces after the disaster, continuing to treat the community in their direst time of need and promising to rebuild for the southwest Missouri community. \n\nShelly Hunter, CFO of Mercy Joplin, was the administrator on call and among the first on \nthe scene. Join us to hear first hand from Shelly what it was like to be on the scene of such a horrific event. She?ll discuss how the employees pulled together in their most trying time and how help from within as well as local, state and federal programs are getting Joplin and Mercy back on their feet. There will be the sharing of many lessons \nlearned in disaster preparedness and some time for Mercy Joplin?s vision for the future.
